Revised Governing Documents

The Texas Section AWWA Board of Directors adopted new Section Governing Documents at the October 2007 Board meeting.  Generally these new Governing Documents provide more specific descriptions of responsibilities for Trustees, Section Divisions and Committees as well as creating a more cohesive alignment with similar functions with AWWA national.

In this process, a new Division, the Water Science and Research Division, has been created and the Water Quality Division has been renamed to the Water Quality and Technology Division.  The Research Committee has been incorporated into the new Water Science and Research Division.

At the October 2007 Board meeting, the Board adopted the proposed changes subject to a review and comment period by the membership.  Following that period, the Board charged the Executive Committee with reviewing and evaluating member comments to finalize the documents prior to the March 25, 2008 Board Meeting at Texas Water 2008.  The Board will then adopt the final revised Section Governing Documents at the Board Meeting.

The Comment Period is open from January 10, 2008 through February 18, 2008.  Comments should be made by email directly back to Executive Director Mike Howe at mikehowe@tawwa.org

There are three documents to review.

1 The "Read Me First" Highlight memo summarizes the significant changes.  This document also explains more of the comment procedure.

2. The "Current Governing Documents" are the current Section Governing Documents adopted and revised most recently in 2003.

3. The "Draft Governing Documents" for review and comment.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to create a legible 'side by side' comparison document to make the review easier.  The "Read Me First" Highlight memo is the best reference to changes.

Members are encouraged to review the "Draft Governing Documents" paying particular attention to their areas of interest and comment as soon as possible.

Once the comments are reviewed by the Executive Committee and any changes are incorporated, the Board will approve the final document at the March 25, 2008 Board meeting.
