For a number of years, the Texas Section AWWA has been recognized as a leader  among AWWA Sections in recognizing the value of recruiting and involving Young Professionals in the leadership of the Section.  A number of YP's from Texas have become part of the leadership both with AWWA and the Texas Section.

Young professionals represent a dynamic and energetic group of members in AWWA and the Texas Section. However, this group has traditionally been under-represented in the membership of the organization. As the membership ages, it is vital to increase the involvement of young water professionals in the activities of the Association.

Young professionals are generally considered to be members or prospective members age 35 and under, or those new to the water industry. This includes those working for utilities, regulatory agencies, consulting firms, or academic institutions. AWWA considers all of its members to be water industry professionals.

Our commitment to Young Professionals remains strong.  We all recognize that the future of the water industry depends on it.
