Target Audience: Operator, security manager, IT specialist – and includes anyone at the utility responsible for cybersecurity.

The AWWA Process Control System Security Guidance for the Water Sector (Cybersecurity Guidance Tool or Tool) provides utility owners in the water sector with the ability to quickly review their control system architecture and use against the national standards, guidelines and best practices for the secure operation of their control systems and technology assets.

Utilizing the Cybersecurity Guidance Tool and interpreting the recommended controls requires that users understand their control system architecture, connections to their business networks, how control system data is used by operations and other staff, and what remote access systems are used. The system information is used to select a series of “Use Cases” in the tool that then identifies what controls are required to protect the control system.

This Workshop will provide the end user education, guidance and examples of how to use the AWWA Cybersecurity Guidance Tool. This workshop (seminar) consists of three modules that focus on (1) how to select the applicable use cases, (2) how the controls generated by the use cases are derived from the standards, and (3) how to move forward with the controls to improve security on the control system by developing a customized cybersecurity improvement plan.
