To support the goals of the Division, the Committee is launching a blog on the website to highlight existing utilities and programs across the state. This blog will provide valuable information on existing programs and highlight how more information on the programs can be obtained, thus creating an online database of water education resources.

Let us know what you think!

Houston Public Works 2020 Water Works Festival

The Water Works Festival is an annual event created to celebrate water and raise public awareness about the value of water.

This year’s event is scheduled on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the new Houston Botanical Garden. Houston has landed at number five on Harper's Bazaar's list of top 20 places to travel in 2020 and has called the Houston Botanic Garden, “the crown emerald of the city’s greening efforts to connect its park space in what has been dubbed the Bayou Greenways.”

Now in its 27th year, the Water Works Festival is a time when students, thirsty for knowledge celebrate and participate in STEM educational activities focused on interactive, hands-on exhibits. This event teaches visitors that water is one of our most precious resources and that every drop matters.

Other big events happening at this time in Houston at this time include our Open House, scheduled for Saturday, April 25th, which will include tours and education booths that feature wastewater operations. The tour will include a walkthrough of the various plant processes as well as information about our sanitary Sewer Overflow Prevention Program.

Help us reach our goal in sharing the value of water and become a #TXWaterAmbassador!
