 K-12+ Education

The K-12+ Education Committee provides industry information, expertise and resource support for Texas students, teachers, and water professionals.

The goal of the committee is to increase awareness of the water industry and to support organizations related to water education. The committee manages a list of online resources as well as a library of physical resources that will be available for use in classroom demonstrations.

Committee members participate in a monthly conference call on the third Wednesday of the month from 3:00-4:00 pm.

Resource Highlights

The K-12+ Education Committee has created a database of available water education resources. Below is a list of resources of highlighted resources that are available online. If you are interested in viewing the entire resource list, submit a request here.

  • Texas Water Development Board - this website has a wealth of information related to everything water: water cycles, watersheds, water use, surface water and groundwater, water treatment and water conservation. It includes activity books, interactive games, web-based educational programs and more!
  • Project WET - this is a non-profit organization with a mission to teach water education worldwide. Some education centers in Texas already work with the organization. The website has a wide variety of materials available for purchase including some in Spanish. The organization also has an interactive website called Discover Water that, although geared towards younger students, covers a wide variety of water topics.
  • Texas Commission on Environmental Quality - the TCEQ offers many publications on its website as well as teaching materials and activities. Although the website itself isn't flashy, it has many great links to other websites that offer activities, materials, publications, lesson plans and programs.
