Webcast originally aired December 6, 2019

America‚Äôs Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 (AWIA '18) requires community water systems serving 3,300 or more persons to conduct a risk and resilience assessment and develop an emergency response plan that must be actively updated every five years.

It is important to remember the Assessments are POPULATION based, not connection based. This means most utilities are required to meet the deadlines.

The assessments are based on an All Hazards Consequence Management Approach, including malevolent acts, natural hazards, and any other risk that may impact any operation of a utility. The assessments must include cyber security risks.

Once the assessment is complete, each utility must complete an Emergency Response Plan addressing the details of the assessment six months later.

Deadlines for meeting the requirements of the AWIA vary depending on population. It is estimated that even in smaller systems, the assessment process alone may take at least three months or longer to complete. Failure to complete the assessments on time may result in substantial fines. Therefore, it is essential utilities understand how to efficiently complete their assessments in a timely manner.

This two-hour webcast will provide specific information and tools for utilities to begin the process to complete their assessments. It will also provide essential information for conducting a cyber security assessment, as well as how to understand the next steps in the assessment process and developing an emergency response plan.

Once payment has been received, you'll receive an email with a downloadable PDF with a link to the webcast and the presentations.
